Yin yoga (or Daoist yoga) has been around for thousands of years and targets the deep connective tissues and fascia of the body. The postures used in Yin yoga tend be mostly floor based poses and uses a lot less postures than the yang style practices. Yin yoga also differs from Yang yoga in that your required to relax into the pose and soften the muscle with postures often held between 3-5- 20 minutes at a time promoting increased flexibility and meditation.
Yin yoga is an intimate form of yoga that requires the practitioner to really connect with the self and their emotions throughout the practice which is why it's a great way to help with stress and anxiety.
